These screen shots are from yesterday but this really isn't about %$#@ for brains Maggie who first hit my radar yesterday on Twitter. There was a link to an article of Maggies being promoted like crazy by Monsanto and its PR minions of tweeters so I went to read it and check her out.
My concern and point goes to fundamental ignorance dominating media. It is a worry that is most easily seen in an area like science where the basic premise is to question, but a media worthy voice questions nothing at all.
I can't find the article now but it hardly matters how she uses an argument of number of kernels per ear of corn versus tonage of harvest to argue the definition of the term yield when the entire discussion of how much is irrelevant if consuming gmo is toxic.
It escapes how someone, serving as a science editor can promote the "benefits" of a product sold as human food without any regard at all for its safety as a food product. The replies are insipid. Maggie suggests that the pesticide producing Bt form is different from the PR darling and collosal failure Golden Rice when both are created by the identically risky process and neither tested for human health effects. Her reaction to my criticism is to block me on Twitter which essentially fuels my criticisms and makes an event of a passing irritation with MSM ignorance and propaganda.
The larger issue for me isn't so much about Monsanto loving Maggie as a tool for promoting a product she doesn't understand but the steady infestation of cyberspace with sock puppets and sh*theads who splinter the once alternate media into bits that echo the corporate swill.
Just as the "Nations" and splintered conversation here at Newsvine has blocked cross discussion even between commenters within a single article we write. It's the information war now being waged on a tactical front and it angers me no end because I know the like minded and kindred spirits are out there.
You are not only out in cyberspace screaming of the same injustices, but in the streets and legislative arenas. Like the gmo issue itself that made it from me and a handful of others writing in cyberspace and called called conspiracy theorists by Monsanto's trolls, to Prop37 labeling on the California ballot in November and exploding efforts now Nationwide.
But all the growth of awareness has brought greater censorship and propaganda efforts. American television news continues to ban any mention of gmo foods or Monsanto. But also missing is coverage of the Manning trial and the war crimes it exposes, the relentless, biggest government wide investigation in US history and hunt for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, the loss of our Constitutional rights with NDAA the return to Feudal law with drone killing by Executive order and Internet censorship bills like CISPA codifying and sanctioning the criminal acts that have gone on covertly since 911 kicked off a justified police state.
There are dozens of places where the voices gather in small enclaves like refugees from a diaspora and perhaps a hundred places where word of their knowledge and discoveries are document by the voices of truth that should be on the stage not the shadows.
Quite possibly it is an extreme case of denial for me, unable to come to terms with the corporate destruction of the Newsvine community and on a larger scale the corporate cancer consuming the web. But it is temporary, the pressure is out there like a million little brush fires and there's not a shred of doubt that we will see a bonfire of truth explode soon. It just can't be soon enough for those who are out in the cold with bits of kindling burning slowly when they know the joy of being gathered around a blaze toasting marshmellows with friends.
Time and distance may come between us but heartfelt bonds endure. Y'all know who you are, whether ya know me or not!
