The day had somewhat solemn overtones as rightly it should and since pictures tell the story for a thousand words a pop here's my collection from the gathering about five until the march cross town which began pouring out of Union Square just after 7:30 and cleared the intersection for traffic to pass a little before eight. They were headed for the UN via 5th Avenue when I left to go home and upload pictures and to that point the NYPD had kept a fairly low profile around the perimeter; the speakers and marchers held a mournful respect in the cries for Justice.
It's hard for me to wrap my mind around a law that allows you to shoot a pedestrian when you can leave in a vehicle being pitched as "stand your ground" defense when here in NYC we can stand peacefully in public space, which makes you wonder what law makers do protect.
