Country first? Whose county is first? Is it mine? Is is the land of the free who look to their government to serve them? Are we served by skipping the debate? Are we served by rushing to bailout Wall Street on Friday?
Is it a rush to the fiscal year end budget games raised beyond Olympic calibre events? Is anyone counting the voters in the planning that promotes country first? Are the voters only counted for their part in picking up tabs for the disasters? How many disasters and tabs has Wall Street enjoyed?
Have the disaster engineers lost their minds? Country first is a great sound bite, but get real!! Is bankrupting the Nation's Treasury and skimming fat on Federal contracts putting my country or the country club first? Who is the country?
How about the hundresds of millions of us paying for the $700 billion dollar bail out? Remember the taxpayers? Why can't we get 90 minutes, with the two people we're left to pick between, to steer this Titanic we're on? How much planning and scheduling went into this first debate?
McCain hasn't been in the Capitol for a vote since April. April, May, June, July, August went by and McCain didn't need to go govern.
Now, between last week when the economy was fundamentally strong and this week when we have a crisis, McCain was in town hall meetings. Why race to sign a check for Wall Street on a Friday night.
How about making Congress and the Banksters work through the weekend?
We shlubs do it all the time, in sickness and in health, through meager and worse until we drop dead with no insurance or a disallowed procedure and a preexisting condition that wasn't covered.
We raced for the cure but we lost the factory, the pension and the health care.
Who's got time to see if the Superfund site left in the race to outsource had any contributing effect to our illness. We punch the clock and our jobs are tied to performance and productivity.
Screw up and it's a pink slip, the door, time to brush up that old resume and find some older references. We count the months we can eat without that paycheck.
It's no consolation the stuff isn't worth the paper its printed on and you need a golden parachute and tens of millions base pay to be secure. Nice scam.
It must be nice to cash in on self made disaster and have the tax attorney depth to put it in a nice off shore tax haven to boot. It makes me want to invade Bermuda and the Bahamas maybe take a Cayman Island or two..
If they can't miss those last fall weekends at the beach houses then close the markets on Monday. Declare a taxpayer holiday with time to reflect. Add some news reports with live voting on how we the American voters feel about the bailout.
We email and text and phone, toss up a toll free number and let us speak up for more than our Idol.
They're getting $700 billion dollars and we're racing to hand it over like they're terrorists with hostages.
Take a breath and remember the man with the gold makes the rules. That would be the taxpayers.
Remember us? We're the buyers who don't feel very much like the cash customer is king.
The Congress is just reorganizing the illusion by passing the debt, to us. Funny, it used to be passing the buck, now it's passing the worthless derivatives.
It would be a nice change of pace for Washington remember who's footing the bill. It would be even better to have the press give more than a nod to the fact that legions of informed people, see the heist for what it is.
