Help Make History!! What kind of history is the real question and from what I see it's the broken record, broken promise history Americans have come to expect from most Washington insiders.
Talk is cheap and that's what we the voters have gotten for decades, lip service not public service. Today we saw how that applies to Hillary Clinton in no uncertain terms.
We hear so much about protecting Americans from Senator Clinton, so much about how she is the anthesis of the Bush Administration.
No she isn't.
She is right on the same page along with the do-nothing Dems, following their corporate handlers, no matter what it costs.
Some lost freedoms? No problem, Human rights abuses? No problem? Spying on Americans? No problem? Constitution for toilet tissue? No problem.
What's got me hotter than a hornet with the wench this time? In the words of CNN, yesterday.
An attempt to remove language granting retroactive immunity from the intelligence bill failed by a 31-67 vote.
A final vote is expected late Tuesday on legislation meant to update the 30-year-old Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, the law that regulates the intelligence community's surveillance practices.
What about we the people here in New York, do we have a Senator so we aren't voiceless? No just like the Ground Zero workers who get lip service in the speeches and get left holding the bag when it's time for action we got zippo today from Senator Clinton, nothing at all. She was too busy to show up!!
What we saw today is the future of America if Presidential responsibility is placed in Hillary Clinton.
How many times have we heard the sound bite, she's ready for the job on day one?
How about being ready for the job in the Senate, any day at all?
How about showing up when it's a critical issue for your constituents?
How about working for me once in a while Senator? Isn't there importance in the job of a Senator or is swearing to serve just like a part time job and not one that can squeeze a crisis vote into the campaign schedule. How about visiting the Capitol for a change of pace maybe?
What about showing up on a critical issue just to make the folks who pay for those great Congressional benefits feel like we got something on our end? Ever hear the term quid pro quo? It means value for value and we'd like a crumb now and then.
Actually that's wrong; we're tired of crumbs, tired of a stimulus payment that's really a loan and Homeland Security that lets bridges collapse and schools fail. We're tired of too much. I'm tired of a Senator who can't show up when she's campaigned around the Beltway and just needs to stay put for a critical vote.
Where's all that great leadership and ability to navigate the pot holes? It looks to me like Clinton detoured right off the track.
Details can be so pesky. The Clinton campaign is going with a campaign ad in Wisconsin talking about debating Obama in Wisconsin like he won't show up. He showed up for the FISA vote. So did McCain so what's so special about Hillary that she can skip it? She's got the big corporate interests in her corner.
Here today on the floor of the Senate was the place she was elected to serve the people of New York. First and foremost and it would be a good opportunity to show some leadership, show some backbone, show some guts, hell just show up!!
So we're voiceless here in New York, once again. Get used to it Hillary lovers. She's got an eye on the White House and if given the chance, we the people can be left out of even bigger issues.
That's the part of representative government which is key; the representative goes to speak on behalf of the voters. But in the case of Clinton it is the funders, the Wall Street crowd, the telecom executives that are being represented.
The voice of Hillary goes to the class of pay to play executives who are above the law, the elite of Wall Street. They hit the jackpot today, just as they have for years before, and years to come with a Clinton Presidency. Actions speak louder than words and we saw it today. Read the tea leaves, this isn't rocket science..
Was the domestic spying and retroactive immunity for the most powerful lobby in Washington not a battle worthy of your time Senator Clinton? Is it just tough darts New York, lawbreaking and domestic spying fall into the category of %$#@ happens? Gee wiz, there's a primary in Texas to go to, that's a great excuse. But it isn't an excuse it is a pattern that is consistent with the facts.
Talk is cheap and today we got to see the money where the mouth is, talking trash and handing Wall Street a blank check. Welcome to Hillary's world America. Here's a huge issue of Constitutional importance and my Senator is in lockstep with the NeoCons, AWOL for convenience.
We saw that today as clear as a bell. The Senate had a critical vote on the domestic spying and Obama was there, McCain was there but the little lady trained to do the corporate do si do was doin' the Cotton Eye Joe in Texas.
Where was the Senator in this moment of historic importance for Constitutional rights and defending Americans from government abuse? She was AWOL. Why show up to vote when she can go talk trash about how much she could do in the White House.
For all you Hillary supporters, who like to claim the woman has experience, where's the experience getting us as citizens of New York? Our Senator has not only spent the bulk of her term on the campaign trail, she can't even swing by the Capitol after the Potomac primaries, to fight for our right to uphold the laws against domestic spying.
What could possibly be more important than our rights to be protected from baseless government invasion of priovacy and warentless wiretapping? Maybe jailed and tortured is the next thing that won't be worth showing up to vote on, who knows?
Where is the leadership and the ability to get things done in Washington we keep hearing about? The Democrats have a majority not that they act like they have a clue why they were elected or what to do with the majority. Senator Clinton keeps boasting that she knows how to work the system and get things done. So what are we waiting for?
How about a little example of the leadership? How about actually showing us how you get something done Senator Clinton. How about showing up? Is it really a case of working the system by laying low when the corporate interests are getting their way?
I have no clue what you people who support Clinton think she's going to do if she gets to the White House, but looking at the Senate might be a good way to measure the distance between what she's promising to protect and what she's delivering. Corporate interests are getting everything they dreamed of; a partners in this lawbreaking to cover them so there's no downside, no punishment, no accountability and no limit to what spying they can do in the future. That's some American Dream.
